Foga, as in yoga
Claiming to represent a "completely new category of Yoga," Foga or Fauxga as it's sometimes called--was introduced Monday by the founder of the Foga movement, Charles Thomas.
In a transpersonal interactive dialog with a select group of journalists, the reclusive Mr. Thomas, 63, revealed the Foga technique in his San Francisco Foga studio, demonstrating the five 'secret poses' that form the core of the practice, and predicting big things for the Foga movement worldwide.
"There's real gravity to the demographics that present an opportunity to streamline yogic practice into five essentials," said Mr. Thomas, "and make it more accessible to an aging population.
Thomas indicated that a book and video--Foga for You--would soon be available.
"I don't recommend that anyone try the poses without first reading the book or watching the video," Thomas said. "Each pose will, at first, naturally feel unnatural to new practitioners, but each is intended the stretch the limits of those comfort zones practitioners of Yoga have fallen into."
