Puritan guilt ethic
There's something wrong with it.
Oh boy, is there ever something wrong with it!
It doesn't take into account the facts as we know them, which are the past and the present, nor does it take into account the future.
It holds what it doesn't take into account to be true, and then disagrees with that.
The question is then, just what to do with it?
Some of us believe the piece of bread we just ate can't be taken back, can't be unchewed and then undigested, and some of us believe just the opposite.
Some of us live a necessary delusional fantasy, where all thinking goes into the soup, and some of us keep thinking there's something wrong with it, something wrong with the thinking, but that nothing can be done about it, it's just the way it is.
