Listening to Alan Watts on the long drive from Portland to San Francisco I wondered, could I ever reach a state where everything makes me happy?

I'd once thought that the saddest part of my life would be my death, but I grew in grace and now know that the saddest part of my life is my life. And that I have a great life.

Hemingway said write drunk, edit sober. I am not Hemingway; I write sober and edit drunk.

If you've said the right thing about something don't worry about it, even if it hurts someone's feelings. When writing however, assume the position of being afraid that someone might actually be reading your writing someday.

Thanks to Descartes there's almost nothing I like about the notion of a self. But I love you, and what I love about you is mostly what I don't know about you.
