Unknown leaves, corner of Alabama and 21st St. San Francisco. Photo by author.

December is cold but almost over and trees aren’t speaking.

Trees aren’t saying goodbye yet, though I can see right through them--almost all the leaves have fallen from the trees, legions of leaves, purple and gold leaves and a color of green that’s never been seen before or since.

(Now that I’ve seen the trees it’s the least I can do to see what’s going on with them!)

Can’t you hear the voice of the trees?—come on, you need to do something!

What can I do?

I don’t know, what can you do?

Let’s make up our minds that we are beautiful and have the right to look at trees.

Ok, sounds good to me whether the trees fall or not.

Yes, let’s end on a good note!
